
PhotoRec can recover data from various filesystems including FAT, NTFS and HFS+. They are used on the command line in the Terminal. Disk Utility will check the hard drive on your Mac for errors. Find your disk in the list on the left side (if you have multiple disks), and click on it. TestDisk download contains TWO programs - TestDisk and PhotoRec.
